Why your first catch matters.

By Poobearski · A note from the current demo

Getting a fishing rod should feel like the start of something. It shouldn’t leave you staring at an empty pond, wondering what to do next.

The fishing reel encounter in Moonlit Cabin.

Grant now lends Rowan a rod when he enters the day-two fishing contest. At Standard speed it runs from 8 to 10 AM. Cast alongside Benny, see the size of every catch, and keep the rod afterward—win or lose. It’s a place to learn, with a little friendly competition.

Something to hope for

Fish have sizes when they’re caught. An unusually big catch can bring extra experience and a new personal record. It gives a familiar fishing spot a little possibility every time you return.

The rare gold fish asks more of you, too. Its struggle and line tension make knowing when to ease off part of the reward.

A discovery should feel like one

Fishing tracks, recipes, and camp discoveries all need clear feedback. If you earn something useful but never notice it arriving, the moment is lost.

That doesn’t mean every catch needs to be loud. The little catches should stay peaceful, leaving room for the unusual ones to stand out.

Try a cast, then tell me

Did the reel make sense? Was a reward easy to notice? Did you want to cast again? Those are the kinds of details this beta is here to learn.
